What is One Tree Medical?
A physician-led medical practice in Santa Barbara, California, built around frontier therapies and careful, whole-record medicine. We are the clinical arm of One Tree Institute, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit.
Who is the physician?
Dr. Anthony Rogers, M.D. He completed his residency in family medicine at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center in 2003 and practiced for 23 years in the Santa Barbara County public health clinics, where more than half of his patients are Spanish-speaking.
Who do you care for?
Adults located in California. We see patients seeking careful management of complex or long-unresolved conditions, and patients seeking supervised care with frontier therapies.
Do you speak Spanish?
Yes. Care is available in Spanish and in English.
How does prescribing work?
Your physician evaluates you, and if medication is appropriate, chooses the medication based on clinical judgment and your history. You choose the pharmacy. The prescription is then transmitted electronically to that pharmacy.
Can I choose my pharmacy?
Yes. You choose your pharmacy — retail or mail order. We send the prescription wherever you direct it.
Do you prescribe controlled substances?
Where clinically appropriate and within a documented treatment relationship, yes, in accordance with federal and California law. Requesting a controlled substance does not mean one will be prescribed; that is a clinical decision.
What does it cost?
Fees are disclosed before services are rendered. Medication costs are set by the pharmacy you choose. Patients should understand the cost of every part of their care before agreeing to it.
Do you take insurance?
Not yet. We are pursuing CenCal Health (Medi-Cal) credentialing so that we can serve the patients we have always served, and we will say so here the moment it is in place. Until then, care is self-pay and every cost is disclosed before you agree to it.
How do you use AI?
AI handles documentation, surfaces patterns across your whole record, and runs safety cross-checks. A physician reviews everything before it enters your record. The AI never diagnoses, never prescribes, and never decides.
Is my data used to train AI models?
No. Protected health information runs only on zero-data-retention rails under HIPAA Business Associate Agreements. Your data is not retained by the AI provider and is never used for training.
Can I get my records?
Yes, at any time. Full access to your own records is a commitment of this practice.
